The Darling Pea Swainsonia greyana grows of the banks and flats of the lower Murray and Darling Rivers. As Becker recorded in his notes it is poisonous to stock and can cause death.
The expedition camped for a number of days at Bilbaka (in the vicinity of present day Pooncarie) on the Darling River. Here Becker was able to complete a number of sketches; during their previous marches he had been forbidden by Burke to paint or to take scientific observations. He was also made to work at general camp and stock duties and had stayed up late in the night working to complete his sketches and notes.
