Connie is the oldest Ngarrindjeri elder in the Riverland and Coorong. She was born on Rabbit Island in the Coorong and her family travelled widely in South Australia and Victoria with their father in search of work. She has been weaving for the past fourteen years as a student of her daughter Yvonne Koolmatrie.
Coiled basketry scoop is an example of the scoops used to collect fish caught in nets and traps. Women also used scoops to collect small fish in the shallows, as well as yabbies and Murray freshwater crayfish.
