Wrap Culture Around You - Cloaks, Clothing and Jewellery
This headdress is my interpretation of a traditional Victorian headdress. I made the Crimson Rosella feather flowers after doing a workshop with Aunty Letty Nicholls. The feathers were collected on Raymond Island, the possum skin is from New Zealand and the small abalone shell is from Cape Conran.
I researched old historical records about corroboree headdresses and discovered there were no surviving examples today.
This headdress is my tribute to the Old People.
