Although mainstream Protestant denominations supported the war and conscription, anti-conscriptionists often tried to highlight the inconsistency of Christians supporting war.
This handbill was authorised by Bernard Mulvogue, Secretary of the Builders' Labourers' Federation throughout the war, and a member of the National Executive of the Trades Union Anti-Conscription Committee. In that role, Mulvogue authorised many items of campaign material. Like many other anti-conscriptionists, Mulvogue was prosecuted by the government and fined for making anti-conscription statements. Mulvogue is buried in Coburg cemetery.
