Anita Apinis-Herman is second generation Latvian weaver. She learned her mother's skills and trained further at the Melbourne College of Textiles.
Woven on a table loom, this rug was made in the late seventies when rug weaving was popular. Anita has used some yarn dyed with eucalyptus leaves. The pattern is a typically Latvian design called ‘rosepath’ and is used in the national dress of the Zemgale region in Latvia.
