The Earth Is Kind - Foods, Fishing and Hunting

This artwork represents food cycles – food which is gathered and caught from the land and sea. I wanted to produce a symbolic work which focused on food and food gathering. There are fish represented and bush tucker, both of which are significant to our Koorie culture.

Our spiritual ancestors
Have guided us since
Before time.
Our mother, earth
Provides us with
Sustenance and shares
Freely her bounty of
Resources.
Our physical life is
Maintained by a
Modern world.
But
Our spirit is the
Ways of our ancestors.
In this way l gather
The fish, the plant foods
Small game, tubers
Fruit and berries.
