Here Is My Country - Creation and Country

When the rains came, Lake Tyrell reflected the stars from the sky on the surface of the water. Traditionally, Aboriginal people told stories about the stars here and passed them on to the next generation. Lake Tyrell is an inspirational place and very important culturally. Being there provides me with the opportunity to connect with my ancestors.

The first paintings in this series were painted as abstract style paintings where the landscape was painted without the diamonds. From there I progressed to use symbolism by including diamonds as representations of spirits in the land. The diamond designs are traditional to South-east Australia.
