About the organisation

Werribee Park is an outstanding historic and cultural attraction offering an authentic insight into Australia’s richly diverse history. Located just 30 minutes from Melbourne, Werribee Park will entice you with its spectacular 1870s mansion, ten hectares of exquisite formal gardens, the internationally acclaimed Victoria State Rose Garden, contemporary sculpture walk, natural riverine, original farmyard, evening performances and major events. From the lowlands of Scotland, Thomas and Andrew Chirnside travelled to Australia in the mid 1800s. Armed with determination and motivated by their family motto ‘Do or Die’, the brothers set about creating a vast pastoral empire. Werribee Park is a testament to their successful business venture whilst offering visitors of today a rare glimpse into the extravagant opulence of a bygone era.
