About the organisation
The Gallery holds a collection of European and Australian paintings, prints and decorative arts from the 1700s to the present, ethnographic material, antiquities and oriental decorative arts. Highlights include the Shaw Bequest consisting of 780 items of exquisite English and European silver, glass, porcelain, miniatures and oriental ceramics reflecting the collecting interests of Herbert and May Shaw of ‘Kiama’ near Hamilton, and a large collection of works by the eighteenth-century English artist Paul Sandby R.A. known as ‘The Father of English Watercolour’.
