About the organisation

The Koorie Heritage Trust was established in 1985 to preserve, protect and promote the living culture of the Indigenous people of south-eastern Australia. Through its Cultural Centre and its programs and services, it is also working to bridge the cultural gap between Koories and the wider community.

The Cultural Centre hosts four galleries showcasing the best of emerging and established Koorie artists; a Permanent Exhibition tracing the history of Koorie people; a resource library; a Keeping Place and a retail shop. The Trust also has an oral history unit and a Family History Service that connects members of the Stolen Generations to their families. It also provides cross cultural training, tourism and education programs; and venue hire facilities.
