Latrobe Regional Gallery is Eastern Victoria's premier art gallery. Nine gallery spaces and a sculpture courtyard showcase travelling, curated and permanent collection exhibitions.
The Gallery hosts over 50 exhibitions each year and serves the local community with a community accesss gallery. The Gallery runs a comprehensive series of education and visitor programs. The visitor programs include artist and curator talks, after school programs, holiday workshops, adult workshops, hands on art activities, guided tours and a Saturday morning kids club.
The Gallery is currently running a program funded by VICHealth for youth based on the Young Ambassadors program run at the National Gallery of Victoria. The gallery is funded by Latrobe City Council and Arts Victoria, with additional sponsorship funds from local businesses and benefactors.
The impressive collection of over 1600 works comprises of contemporary Australian art and a diverse range of historical and contemporary images of the Gippsland region. A highlight of the collection is the Alan Aldous collection of C18th and C19th Japanese prints.
The Gallery also has an impressive perfume bottle collection that was donated by Ingrid McGaughey in 1996. The collection includes work by some of the most respected and renowned glass artists working in Australia today.
