The Box Hill Historical Society collects and maintains a local history collection relevant to the suburbs of Box Hill, Box Hill South and North, Mont Albert, Mont Albert North, Bennettswood and parts of Burwood and Surrey Hills.
Our Heritage Centre is open to the public for research and information on Tuesdays 11 to 4 and the first Saturday of the month from 10 to noon. We also provide a research service. The Society's catalogue can be accessed via the Whitehorse-Manningham Library web site although not all our Collection has been catalogued.
The Society also collects and communicate's the local history of the area through cemetery tours, exhibitions and displays, monthly meetings with a speaker, a bi-monthly newsletter, local history publications, outings with an historical flavour and participation in the City of Whitehorse annual Heritage Festival.
The Society's local history archive contains photographs and images, newspapers, rate records, books and journals, manuscripts, maps, ephemera, cemetery records, oral and family histories.
